through wet sparkling leaves
over soft green grass
smell of earth, jungle green
this warmth wraps round my soul
my tilted face, a leaf to sunlight
dreams of mint and garden beans
golden evenings of guitars and
texan songs of armadillos
pickup trucks and laughter by
candlelight by lanterns swinging
from tree limbs by fireflies blinking
palest blue and violet silhouettes
of twilight leaves outlined in pink and
gold from windows thrown wide open
crickets and the distant highway
sing duets in the dark while
music drifts from far below
in life and love, in warmth
and trust I sleep
